& the sky’s full of leaves;

October 18th, 2002 · 8 comments

slight this morning, like smoke, breath. out the door to shiver by the mailbox, standing in autumn dressed like summer.

a ballerina
in fluffy, black slippers.
(the contrast made my neighbor
look again. and smile.)

i have been making things with my nervous fingers, smiling like a girl with a secret. paper everywhere.

drinking coffee
with ink
on my 6am hands.
